The Short Version
For every pound of qualifying Give A Pound ground beef you purchase, Alondra SLO LLC (d/b/a Give A Pound) donates one pound of ground beef to the SLO Food Bank (Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County, EIN 77-0210727), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving San Luis Obispo County.
Who's Actually Donating
We are. Give A Pound (Alondra SLO LLC) makes the donation, from our own product and resources, based on your purchase. Your payment is for the beef you're buying for yourself — it is a retail sale, not a charitable contribution, and it is not tax-deductible to you as the purchaser.
What Gets Donated
For each pound of qualifying Product sold, we donate one pound of food-grade ground beef to the SLO Food Bank — matched one-to-one, not a percentage or estimate.
Where It Goes
Every pound donated through this program currently goes to the SLO Food Bank, serving San Luis Obispo County. We plan to expand this program to additional California food banks over time; when we do, this page will be updated to reflect exactly which food bank(s) are active and how selection works, and we won't name a new partner here until an agreement with them is signed.
How Long This Runs
The program began August 1, 2026, and is ongoing — it renews each calendar year rather than running as a limited-time promotion. If that ever changes, we'll update this page.
How We Track and Report It
We keep records of units sold and pounds delivered to the SLO Food Bank, and we provide the food bank a written accounting after each program year. Any pounds-donated or meals-provided figures shown on this site reflect actual, current numbers based on those records — not projections or placeholders.
How the Program Is Structured
Our giving program runs on a written agreement with each food bank partner. Today that is the SLO Food Bank, the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County. Under that agreement we donate food grade ground beef directly to the food bank as product, on a set schedule, and we provide a written accounting of pounds sold and pounds delivered after each program year. We do not collect money on a food bank's behalf, and no part of your purchase price is passed through to them as a cash contribution.
Before we name any additional food bank on this site or send it product, we sign an agreement with that organization first.
