How does the pound for pound donation work?+
For every pound of beef you buy, Give A Pound donates a matching pound of real protein to the SLO Food Bank. Your purchase is payment for your own beef, not a charitable donation, and is not tax deductible. Give A Pound makes the donation.
Where do the donated pounds go?+
Every matching pound goes to the SLO Food Bank, the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We plan to add more California food banks over time as new partnerships are signed.
Is there a minimum order?+
Yes. Our ground beef is sold in 10 pound increments, with a 10 pound minimum. Buying in 10 pound blocks keeps frozen shipping practical and your cost per pound low.
How much is shipping and where do you ship?+
We currently ship within California only. Shipping is a flat 20 dollars per order, and it is free when your order reaches 20 pounds. Beef ships frozen in insulated, recyclable packaging.
How do monthly subscriptions work?+
Choose a monthly box and save 10 percent, and a family is fed every month. You can skip a month or cancel anytime from your account page.
Is my payment secure?+
Yes. Payments are processed by Square and your card is encrypted in their secure form. We never see or store your card number.
Where does the beef come from?+
It is raised on California family ranches, harvested humanely, and processed locally in Paso Robles, California.
